As explained by the police, the search was carried out due to urgent necessity, without a court ruling. According to them, a case has been initiated by the Criminal Police Department under Articles 225 and 239¹ of the Criminal Code, which pertain to organizing, leading, or participating in group violence and publicly calling for violent actions.
The police seized a mobile phone and a laptop from Ilia Glonti’s residence.
The group Daitove, created on the social network Facebook, consists of approximately 237 000 members. Within Daitove, citizens share information about ongoing protests in the country, assist one another, and organize various activities.
Yesterday, December 3, the criminal police conducted a personal search of activist Dodi Kharkheli. They located her on the street after he had dropped off his child at kindergarten. Simultaneously, a search was conducted in the activist's apartment. In this instance, the Ministry of Internal Affairs cited an investigation launched several months ago into the case of Dodi Kharkheli's ex-husband, Ucha Abashidze, as the reason for the search.
"Everything happening in the country right now is connected to the processes taking place on the streets. All of this relates to the illegal decisions being made by this de facto government, which is trying in every possible way to maintain its status and intimidate anyone who dares to speak out," Dodi Kharkhel stated following the conclusion of the investigative actions.
