The Georgian President, Salome Zourabichvili, has appealed to the Internal Affairs Minister, Vakhtang Gomelauri, urging an immediate cessation of the crackdown on peaceful demonstrations, the disproportionate use of force, and violence against unarmed young participants.

"Clearly that the rally remained peaceful, devoid of any imminent danger or threat to public order.
It is regrettable that you chose to confront the youth, especially under the banner of national allegiance. Furthermore, resorting to appeals to religion and employing violence during the Passion Week is equally deplorable," wrote Salome Zourabichvili on social media.
The President further instructs the Public Defender to promptly intervene to halt "any unjustified and inappropriate actions by special forces."
