Publika Journalist Mindia Gabadze Attacked

The Russian law of the Georgian Dream party threatens independent media and civil society organizations and hinders Georgia from joining the European Union.

Russian law establishes Putin's rules in Georgia, which has eliminated free speech in Russia.

When you are oppressed, there will be no one to cover your problem and stand by you.

Georgian News will resist the Russian intention of the Georgian Dream to the end!

Mindia Gabadze, a journalist for the online publication Publika, was attacked while covering a rally on Rustaveli Avenue near the Blue Gallery.

“I was uploading materials when a stranger approached me. When I asked what was going on, he punched me in the face, knocked me down, and kicked me. There were probably several of them at the time. I think I heard two voices,” said Mindia Gabadze.

According to him, the attacker resembled a so-called titushky, was dressed in black, and wore a mask.

A video circulating online shows a patrol police vehicle parked near the scene of the attack. Despite the attackers fleeing in plain sight and people shouting, the police failed to respond.

The journalist is currently at the police station. He appears to have facial injuries and reports experiencing a severe headache.

“This was a deliberate pursuit of our journalist. While performing his professional duties, these unknown individuals followed him and attacked him in broad daylight, on the city's central avenue,” said Lika Zakashvili, editor of Publika. She added that such violence against media representatives is encouraged by the government.
