“The simultaneous presence of six explosive devices. Originating from Odesa and traversing three NATO member states - Romania, Bulgaria, and Turkey - with the ultimate destination being Voronezh. The sender, identified as an activist of Zelensky’s party, purportedly orchestrated a plot akin to a major terrorist attack previously attempted on the Crimean Bridge, albeit disrupted this time within Georgia.

Through the proactive efforts of Georgia’s security services, one of the conduits utilized by Ukrainian terrorists for transporting explosive devices into our territory has been neutralized.
The hallmark of Ukrainian special services is conducting terrorist acts abroad through proxies, and this is not the first instance of them exploiting Georgia for such purposes. This mirrors the incident in 2022 when the surface of the Crimean bridge was targeted, resulting in the detonation of a truck and the loss of five lives,” conveyed the Russian propaganda media, citing the statement issued by Georgia’s State Security Service on February 5 regarding the interception of six specialized explosive devices and 14 kilograms of explosives en route from Odesa, Ukraine, to Russia via Georgia.
As relayed by Russia’s First Channel, Georgia’s robust response to the attempted utilization of its territory by Ukrainian special services against Russia has been met with widespread acclaim.
“This constitutes yet another endeavor to embroil Georgia in hostilities against Russia. Georgia has conducted itself admirably, underscoring the indivisibility of security,” remarked Arno Khidirbegishvili, editor-in-chief of the pro-Russian publication Sakinform, during an interview with Channel 1.
Echoing similar sentiments are pro-government Georgian experts Zaal Anjaparidze and Levan Nikoleishvili, whose perspectives, shared on Facebook, are prominently featured in the narrative presented by the Russian television channel.
“In essence, we are thwarting the designs of our so-called 'strategic partner,' Ukraine, which has recently recalled its ambassador from Georgia and effectively expelled our ambassador. The scant information divulged concerning the aforementioned incident (merely scratching the surface) suffices to warrant a compelling inference - they seek to embroil Georgia in confrontation with Russia by any means necessary,” penned Zaal Anjaparidze.
The Ukrainian Embassy in Georgia issued a response to the revelations brought forth by Georgia’s State Security Service. The embassy expressed its hope that Georgia would refrain from politicizing the matter.
“The Embassy of Ukraine is in the process of verifying the information disseminated during the briefing by Georgia's State Security Service, meticulously investigating all facets, particularly concerning the involvement of Ukrainian nationals in illicit activities. We convey our interest and readiness to engage constructively with Georgia's law enforcement and relevant authorities to comprehensively ascertain the circumstances of the case objectively, impartially, and exhaustively, and to identify the true instigators,” the embassy statement asserted.
Irakli Kobakhidze, the Prime Ministerial candidate for Georgia, echoed sentiments akin to those propagated by the Russian media.
“Politicization is unwarranted; our state interests were under threat. What relevance does politicization hold in this context? Had Ukraine maintained its ambassador in Georgia, perhaps such a statement would not have been issued.
When external forces endeavor to make Georgia a target of Russian aggression from within, this constitutes a grave and alarming development. Once again, it underscores the assertions made by senior officials of the Ukrainian government that they sought and likely still seek to open a second front within our borders.
The revelations presented to me by the State Security Service serve as further corroboration of this,” asserted Kobakhidze.
