The Czech Parliament Identified Russian Regime as Greatest Threat

The Russian law of the Georgian Dream party threatens independent media and civil society organizations and hinders Georgia from joining the European Union.

Russian law establishes Putin's rules in Georgia, which has eliminated free speech in Russia.

When you are oppressed, there will be no one to cover your problem and stand by you.

The Czech Parliament identified Russia as the biggest threat to the country's security. The resolution, adopted on March 20, states that the "terrorist regime in Russia" is attempting to expand its sphere of influence to Ukraine and other European countries, which involves war crimes.

"Therefore, it is the fundamental interest of the Czech Republic that Putin's war against Ukraine is not successful, that Ukraine defends itself, restores its territorial integrity and that the aggression of the Russian regime against Europe is restrained," reads the resolution, which was adopted after 19 hours of debate.

84 deputies voted in favor of the resolution submitted by the ruling coalition, 42 abstained, and 17 voted against it.

The parliament also supported the continuation of assistance to Ukraine, including the provision of military equipment. Deputies noted that an independent, democratic, and free Ukraine, firmly represented in international structures, is in the interests of the Czech Republic.

"Cutting off the supply of military equipment, on the contrary, will result in the conquest and destruction of Ukraine by the Russian terrorist regime and encourage this regime to continue its conquest of European states.

"If Ukraine ends up in the hands of Putin's terrorist regime, there is no doubt that efforts will continue to expand its sphere of influence in the direction of the Baltic or Central European countries. Putin has already proven that the conquest of one territory will not stop him. The policy of intimidation does not work - just as it did not work with Hitler." - It is mentioned in the resolution.

At the same time, the parliamentarians appealed to the government to continue strengthening the defense capability of the Czech Republic.

In 2022, after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Czech parliament declared the Russian regime a terrorist organization. The parliaments of Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, and Poland did the same.
