Two Children Killed in Zugdidi Fire

The Russian law of the Georgian Dream party threatens independent media and civil society organizations and hinders Georgia from joining the European Union.

Russian law establishes Putin's rules in Georgia, which has eliminated free speech in Russia.

When you are oppressed, there will be no one to cover your problem and stand by you.

In Zugdidi, on Bukia Street, a fire broke out late at night on the sixth floor of a multi-story residential building, claiming the lives of two children under the age of six. Two teenagers managed to escape the burning apartment, and their lives are not in danger.

When the fire broke out, the siblings were alone in the rented apartment. The cause of the fire is unknown. As a neighbor says, the socially vulnerable family's electricity and natural gas had been cut off due to unpaid debts.

The fire started around 02:00. Neighbors reported that the arriving fire engine encountered issues, particularly with the ladder, which did not initially open. "When the fire came, they poured water from below. How could the water extinguish like that? The water couldn’t reach it," said a local resident.

The Emergency Situations Management Service stated that the fire-rescue team arrived promptly but found the two children dead. They noted that the fire was localized in time and did not spread to other floors.
