When the fire broke out, the siblings were alone in the rented apartment. The cause of the fire is unknown. As a neighbor says, the socially vulnerable family's electricity and natural gas had been cut off due to unpaid debts.
The fire started around 02:00. Neighbors reported that the arriving fire engine encountered issues, particularly with the ladder, which did not initially open. "When the fire came, they poured water from below. How could the water extinguish like that? The water couldn’t reach it," said a local resident.
The Emergency Situations Management Service stated that the fire-rescue team arrived promptly but found the two children dead. They noted that the fire was localized in time and did not spread to other floors.
