Opposition to Hold Rally at Tbilisi Court of Appeal Tomorrow

On November 5, starting at 11:00, another protest rally will be held near the Tbilisi Court of Appeal. This was announced by the leaders of the opposition. The court is set to begin considering election complaints tomorrow.

"Today, the battle line for our return to victory runs right here at the Court of Appeals. Today, the line of struggle for saving the country's future, the line of the country's European future, and the line of truth all converge here. The truth is on the side of the Georgian people, who made a European choice in the historic elections of October 26. However, Ivanishvili hijacked this free choice by abusing state institutions.

This was confirmed by Tetritskaro judge Vladimer Khuchua, who stated that the constitutional principle of secrecy was indeed violated, preventing people from expressing their free will. The elections conducted under this violation of constitutional principles should be annulled," said Tina Bokuchava, the leader of Unity - National Movement, addressing the citizens gathered at the Court of Appeal today.

"We must organize a larger protest and show our support. Let’s demonstrate that the court within these walls is not a Georgian court; it is a Russian, Soviet-style court mired in corruption. Therefore, we must send a very clear message to Bidzina Ivanishvili. The system is rotten; a fish rots from the head down. We will not dismantle this gate; we will dismantle you and your people, who are solely interested in maintaining power and perpetuating corruption, while we are left to live at your mercy like a flock of sheep. It won’t be like that. The battle begins now; join us all - victory is within our grasp," declared Mamuka Khazaradze, the leader of the Strong Georgia coalition.

The Georgian Young Lawyers Association is contesting the massive violation of voters' right to vote in secrecy during the October 26 parliamentary elections and has filed appeals against all relevant district election commissions in Tbilisi and Kutaisi appeal courts. In turn, the Central Election Commission (CEC) has appealed the decision of the only court of first instance, which confirmed the violation of confidentiality. The CEC has also appealed the decision of the Gori District Court, which ordered the Gori District Election Commission to recount the invalid ballots from 15 election precincts.

The appeals filed by GYLA against the district election commissions located in Eastern Georgia have been consolidated into one case by the Tbilisi Court of Appeal. Judges Ilona Todua, Davit Akhalbedashvili, and Gocha Didava will begin hearing the case at 14:00.
