In 2023, Georgia recorded a negative migration balance. Based on the National Statistics Office data, the number of emigrants was 245,064, which is 95.6% more than in 2022, while the number of immigrants increased by 14.5% to 205 857. The difference between emigrant and immigrant Georgian citizens was 71,584.

Out of the 245,064 people who emigrated last year, 152,383 (62.2%) are of working age (15-64 years old). Among the emigrants, 163 480 are Georgian citizens, 35 344 are citizens of the Russian Federation, 7675 are citizens of Ukraine, 7049 are citizens of Turkey, 4537 are citizens of Belarus, 3274 are citizens of India, and 23 538 emigrants have citizenship of other countries.
Of the 205 857 immigrants, 156 304 (75.9%) are aged between 15 and 64. Among the immigrants, 91 896 are Georgian citizens, 52, 627 are citizens of Russia, 8624 are citizens of Turkey, 8406 are citizens of India, 7516 are citizens of Ukraine, 3557 are citizens of Belarus, and 33 072 are citizens of other countries.
Based on Geostat data, Georgia's population decreased by 1.1% last year compared to the previous year, amounting to 3,694,600 people as of January 1, 2024. A negative natural increase was observed, with 40 214 people born and 42 756 deaths recorded.

The share of the population aged 0-14 in the total population is 19.5%, the share of the working-age population (age group 15-64) is 64.3%, and the share of the population aged 65 and older is 16.2%.
48% of Georgia's population are men, and 52% are women. According to Geostat, the sex ratio is 92, meaning there are 92 men for every 100 women.
