Officers from the Tbilisi Police Department have arrested a man accused of murdering transgender woman Kesaria Abramidze. Born in 1998, Beka Jaiani faces a prison sentence of 16 to 20 years or life imprisonment.

As per the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the investigation revealed that on September 18 of this year, in Didi Dighomi, the accused inflicted multiple wounds with a cold weapon on Kesaria Abramidze, born in 1987, at her home due to a mutual dispute and then fled the scene. The wounded woman died at the scene as a result of her injuries.
"The investigative actions carried out by law enforcement officers led to the arrest of the suspect at the scene. The weapon used in the crime - a knife - was seized as evidence," stated the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The case is being investigated under Article 109, Paragraphs h and m of the Criminal Code, which pertains to premeditated murder committed under aggravating circumstances with special cruelty due to gender.
