Aliyev - If Armenia Agrees, We Will Start Tripartite Meetings with Georgia Immediately

The Russian law of the Georgian Dream party threatens independent media and civil society organizations and hinders Georgia from joining the European Union.

Russian law establishes Putin's rules in Georgia, which has eliminated free speech in Russia.

When you are oppressed, there will be no one to cover your problem and stand by you.

Georgian News will resist the Russian intention of the Georgian Dream to the end!

According to the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Georgia's involvement in the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan is ‘’the most sensible choice’’ and if Armenia agrees, ‘’Azerbaijan will immediately start bilateral and trilateral meetings in Georgia.’’

Aliyev was in Georgia along with the government delegation on October 8.

‘’We discussed the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Last month, we restored the sovereignty of the entire country, and today we must actively work on a peace deal with Armenia. I hope we achieve this and

In this way, we will establish a political environment in the South Caucasus, where tripartite cooperation will take place between Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan.

It will be a successful cooperation in energy, trade, investment, and many other spheres. We lacked this possibility because Azerbaijan was occupied for years. Of course, this did not allow us to take steps towards normalization, but the time has come, where we can realize this opportunity,’’ said the president of Azerbaijan.

Before Aliyev’s speech, Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Gharibashvili stated that Tbilisi is ready to participate in the peace process.

‘’I would like to express my great hope that a peace agreement will be signed with Armenia very soon. I think this will contribute to establishing long-term peace in the South Caucasus, which will bring prosperity to our people. Georgia always took a neutral and impartial position in these processes. Now, we are ready to play our role and contribute to the mediation and facilitation process for establishing a friendly format between parties.

We, three countries of the South Caucasus, should be able to resolve the issues of the region and decide our future development by ourselves,’’ said Gharibashvili.

According to the administration of the Government of Georgia, at the face-to-face meeting, the parties discussed the development prospects of the Middle Corridor. Georgia and the Republic of Azerbaijan are working in coordination with the Republic of Kazakhstan in order to quickly develop this corridor, which involves the modernization of railways, the expansion and construction of ports, and the modernization and development of roads.

As a result of the military operation in Nagorno-Karabakh on September 19-20, Azerbaijan declared state sovereignty restored, after which ethnic Armenians fled the region en masse and moved to Armenia to live with relatives or take temporary shelter. A total of 120 thousand people lived in Karabakh. According to the data of international organizations, no more than a thousand Armenians are left in the region.
