The acceptance of applications for non-judge membership of the Supreme Council of Justice in the administration of the President of Georgia has ended. Five applications have been submitted to fill one vacant position on the Council. The identities of the candidates are unknown at this stage.

"The President has the right to discretionarily select and appoint as a member of the Supreme Council of Justice one of the candidates participating in the competition from among those who meet the requirements established by law. Despite this, an independent selection commission was created by the decision of the president. The commission was established on June 21 and, based on the information presented by the candidates and individual interviews with them, will evaluate the qualifications, reputation, independence, and integrity of the candidates and will submit recommendations to the President of Georgia," the presidential administration said.
The commission will hold interviews with the candidates, which include:
- Guro Imnadze - Social Justice Center
- Ketevan Eremadze - professor at Iliauni, former judge of the Constitutional Court
- Besik Loladze - Professor at the National University of Georgia
- Nona Kurdovanidze - Chairman of the Association of Young Lawyers of Georgia
- Tamar Laliashvili - professor at New Vision University
- Giorgi Davituri - Institute for the Development of Freedom of Information
- Zurab Vardiashvili - director of Publika publication
The President will appoint a non-judge member of the Supreme Council of Justice no later than July 15, 2024.
The Supreme Council of Justice is a coordinating body of the judicial system, created to promote quality and efficient justice. It appoints judges in the city and appeals courts and also selects and sends candidates for the Supreme Court to the parliament for approval. The council consists of 15 members, six of whom are non-judge members. The President is authorized to appoint one non-judge member.
In July 2020, Salome Zourabichvili appointed Tamar Gvamichava as a non-judge member of the Supreme Council of Justice. Gvamichava's four-year mandate will expire in a few days.
