Former Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia's party, For Georgia, and the coalition Strong Georgia were unable to reach an agreement on a pre-election merger. Gakharia's party released a statement regarding the matter. Saba Buadze, a member of Lelo and one of the coalition leaders, expressed surprise at this information.

"We put aside our party interests and sacrificed everything, but the other side requested more time to reach an internal coalition agreement. Unfortunately, it appears they were unable to reach an internal consensus. With the election period approaching, the time to make specific decisions is already limited. As a result, it was not possible to reach an agreement at this stage.
However, the discussions initiated with Lelo give us positive expectations regarding future cooperation in the next parliamentary session," the party's statement read.
For Georgia also thanked President Salome Zourabichvili, who, according to the party, has played a significant role in the ongoing political processes in the country.
"It was through her initiative and invitation that we became involved in the political discussions over the past few days. We would also like to thank Lelo for their participation in these discussions," the statement continued.
Another meeting between Giorgi Gakharia and Mamuka Khazaradze at the presidential administration was anticipated today. A few hours ago, Khazaradze mentioned that the positions within his coalition were nearly reconciled.
"This process began, continued, and is still ongoing with the active participation of the president. Frankly, this statement came as a complete surprise to me because, as of yesterday, we had reached a sort of agreement on key principles, with clear expectations from both sides. The successful conclusion of these negotiations and reaching an agreement with Gakharia's team has full support within Lelo," Saba Buadze stated on TV Pirveli.
As Buadze noted, no one within the coalition has raised a principled objection to this issue.
