"Until now, the CEC has avoided meeting our request and making voting information available to voters. The CEC also refrains from providing us with complete information about the contract signed with Smartmatic, particularly the documentation regulating the storage of a unified list of voters in voting machines, including the period of storage and the procedures for deleting this information.
Today, this information must be stored in two locations: the CEC servers and electronic devices. As per the information available to us, falsification of the records on the CEC servers and deletion of information on the electronic devices are currently in progress. The absurd response we received from the CEC serves as proof of this. Each delayed day increases the risk of destroying crucial evidence, which only benefits the Dream party," Mezvrishvili said at today’s briefing.
She added that the party For Georgia has applied to the court to ensure the protection of the mentioned information, wherever it is stored.
“Otherwise, the Dream party will succeed in destroying evidence for any objective investigation, making it impossible to protect the electoral rights of hundreds of voters.
I have a simple question: if there is nothing to hide, and if the elections were held at the highest level, as they claim, why are they concealing this information? We should not need a court to seize this information, which we are trying to preserve," Natia Mezvrishvili stated.
The party of former Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia requested the CEC to provide the contract signed with the electronic vote counting system company Smartmatic on October 29. Additionally, the party demands that a neutral, objective platform be established for the voters who participated in the October 26 parliamentary elections, allowing each citizen to verify individually where and when they voted.
In the October 26 parliamentary elections, according to data from the Central Election Commission, the Georgian Dream received 53.92% of the votes, while the votes were distributed among the opposition parties as follows: Coalition for Change - 11.034%; United National Movement - 10.17%; Strong Georgia - 8.808%; Gakharia for Georgia - 7.777%. None of the opposition parties that surpassed the threshold will accept these results. They claim that the elections were rigged, that an international investigation should be conducted, and that new elections should be called.
