Freestyle wrestler Geno Petriashvili (125 kg) won a gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics. He defeated his Iranian opponent, Amir Hossein Zare, 10-9 in the final. In the semi-finals, Petriashvili faced Giorgi Meshvildishvili, who was competing for Azerbaijan, and won 7-0.

Geno Petriashvili won bronze medals at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and silver medals at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. He is also a three-time world champion and a two-time European champion.
"I can't describe the emotions. I feel like I'm dreaming, and I won't wake up. Thank you to the fans, each and every one of you. When I calm down, I'll have more to say. Thank God! I came back, and I came back strong!" said Petriashvili after his victory. He brought Georgia its second gold medal of the Olympics.
Currently, Georgia has three gold, two silver, and one bronze medal. Weightlifter Lasha Talakhadze won the third gold.
