Georgian Airways is planning to fly from Tbilisi to the Dagestani city of Makhachkala. According to the schedule published on the official website of Makhachkala International Airport, flights will be operated from November 23 to March 30, three times a week - on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

For now, Georgian Airways operates only Tbilisi-Moscow-Tbilisi flights to Russia. Airlines - Red Wings, Azimuth, and Georgian Airways - operate flights from Tbilisi, Kutaisi, and Batumi airports to 8 cities of the Russian Federation.
In July 2019, direct air travel between Georgia and Russia stopped. Direct flights were suspended by the decision of Russian President Vladimir Putin, which was preceded by mass demonstrations held in Tbilisi in protest of the visit of the Russian Duma deputy, Sergey Gavrilov, to the Parliament of Georgia.
According to the data of the statistics office, in the period of July-September 2023, the largest number of visitors came from the Russian Federation, 478.4 thousand, which is 24.4% of the total number of visitors. Turkey is in second place with a share of 21.3%, and Armenia in third with 12.9%.
The majority of visitors (46.5%) are aged 31-50. Most visitors (58.9%) came for recreation and entertainment.
