In January and February, 270 people were arrested on charges of drug crimes

The Russian law of the Georgian Dream party threatens independent media and civil society organizations and hinders Georgia from joining the European Union.

Russian law establishes Putin's rules in Georgia, which has eliminated free speech in Russia.

When you are oppressed, there will be no one to cover your problem and stand by you.

Georgian News will resist the Russian intention of the Georgian Dream to the end!

According to information from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, since the beginning of this year, 270 people have been arrested on charges of drug crimes, including 27 drug dealers. Citizens of Georgia, Iran, Turkey, Armenia, Jordan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Belarus, Iraq, and the Netherlands have been detained. They can face up to 20 years or life imprisonment.

“Among the arrested persons are drug dealers who were selling narcotics using the traditional hand-to-hand method. In addition, there are so-called drug dealers who use the method of placing drugs in different locations. Among those arrested, there are also persons illegally importing drugs across the border, who brought various types of narcotics into the country,” said Teimuraz Kupatadze, the director of the Central Criminal Police Department.

Narcotic and psychotropic drugs “Heroin”, “Cocaine”, “Alpha PVP”, “Subutex”, “Suboxone”, “Methadone”, “MDMA”, “LSD”, “Mephedrone”, “Amphetamine”, “Ecstasy”, Hashish, and the narcotic plant hemp.

At today's briefing, Teimuraz Kupatadze provided an explanation regarding the stories that appeared in the media and the questions that arose in society regarding the drug situation in the country.

“In today's reality, along with technological development, the sale of drugs has moved to the Internet space.

Communication with drug users occurs through the Internet without physical contact. The narcotics dyed in the mentioned way are artificial synthetic narcotic drugs that cause fatal consequences in users. In most cases, drug dealers involve young people in the scheme, advertising vacancies in the online space and offering a solid salary.

I would like to point out that the above-mentioned activity is a serious crime. This includes not only the placing of drugs in different locations but also the sale of drugs, which carries a very severe punishment, and hundreds of people have been prosecuted in such cases.

At the same time, within the framework of the complex investigation, the search and seizure of cash and real estate in bank accounts obtained illegally as a result of drug trafficking are constantly being carried out.

Additionally, I would like to emphasize that we are constantly identifying online stores in the darknet and various Telegram channels, processing the received information, conducting controlled purchases, and implementing various operational and investigative measures. Also, within the limits of technological capabilities, the mentioned Telegram channels and other online stores are blocked and shut down,” said Teimuraz Kupatadze.

As he noted, it takes time to find evidence, process data, and conduct examinations to prosecute drug dealers involved in similar schemes.
