Russian opposition politician and founder of the anti-corruption fund, Alexei Navalny, died in prison at the age of 47. The announcement regarding the death of the detainee was made by the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia.

As per the agency's statement, Navalny fell ill after his walk and promptly lost consciousness.
“All necessary resuscitation measures were undertaken yet yielded no positive outcomes. Emergency medical personnel confirmed the convict's demise. The exact cause of death is under investigation,” stated the Federal Penitentiary Service.
The family has not yet confirmed the information regarding Navalny's demise.
The publication SOTAvision released a video recording from yesterday's court session, February 15, in which Navalny participated remotely. The publication notes, “Alexei is strong, healthy, and in good spirits.”
Since late 2023, Navalny had been serving his sentence at the special regime colony "Polar Wolf" in Kharp, located on the Yamal Peninsula in northern Western Siberia. On February 14, the politician's press secretary, Kira Yarmish, reported that he had been transferred to solitary confinement for the 27th time during his incarceration.
Alexei Navalny spent three years in prison. He was arrested on January 17, 2021, upon his return to Moscow from Berlin, where he had been receiving treatment since August 22, 2020, following a Novichok poisoning incident.
