"The Foreign Intelligence Service has received information and disclosed that, at the request of the US State Department, the OSCE/ODIHR has already prepared an interim report containing the assertion that there are no conditions for holding fair and open elections in Georgia. This is, of course, untrue. The purpose of this action is to interfere rudely and brazenly in Georgia's domestic affairs and to prevent healthy, nationally oriented forces from coming to power again. I am confident that the people of Georgia will make the right and correct choice," Naryshkin told journalists in Baku.
Sergey Naryshkin added that the West continues to interfere in the domestic politics of the South Caucasus countries, citing the recent example of the parliamentary elections held in Azerbaijan in September.
"It is unfortunate that a number of Western countries and the once-authoritative international organization, the OSCE, attempted to discredit the elections in Azerbaijan. They sought to question the results, despite the fact that the outcomes of these elections align perfectly with the aspirations of the Azerbaijani people. Unfortunately, all of this is part of the gradual degradation of the OSCE, which increasingly serves the political interests of a number of countries within the so-called 'golden billion,'" Naryshkin stated.
Previously, the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service announced that the US is planning to interfere in the parliamentary elections in Georgia with the help of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR). Additionally, Moscow has accused Washington of preparing a color revolution in Georgia. The US State Department called these accusations "categorically false."
The Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, consistently speaks about "unprecedented external interference" in the parliamentary elections. On October 3, he also referenced the so-called cards published by the US Embassy on Facebook in recent days, which the embassy used to respond to various accusations against Georgian Dream.
"This election process will take place against the backdrop of unprecedented external interference. These cards also have the sole purpose of attempting to influence the will of the voters. Whoever prepares these cards inside the embassy is driven by the sole intent of somehow influencing the elections. However, neither such cards nor anything else will be able to sway the will of the Georgian people," said Kobakhidze, who claims that the ruling party has the support of 60% of the population.
