Nika Gvaramia and Nika Melia Founded Opposition Party Ahali

The Russian law of the Georgian Dream party threatens independent media and civil society organizations and hinders Georgia from joining the European Union.

Russian law establishes Putin's rules in Georgia, which has eliminated free speech in Russia.

When you are oppressed, there will be no one to cover your problem and stand by you.

Georgian News will resist the Russian intention of the Georgian Dream to the end!

Ahali (“New”) is the name of the political party founded by Nika Gvaramia, the former general director of the TV company Mtavari Arkhi, and Nika Melia, the former chairman of the oppositional political party United National Movement, after three months of negotiations.

“We are fighting for changes in Georgia. We will change because we know the struggle; we know the price of not being redeemed; we know the price of serving the motherland; we know how to overcome difficulties and how to respond to challenges. We also know how to govern, and we will continue the history of this country with successful governance, successful steps, and European integration. This is our decision, task, and goal, and we will achieve this goal together with you.

Our color is green - it symbolizes newness and new beginnings. Our color is orange - it represents indomitable energy, progress, and hope. We believe these are our core values, along with white, which symbolizes purity, innocence, and happiness. We believe that we will move forward. The arrow pointing forward is advancing rapidly in this paused country,” said Nika Gvaramia at the event held today.

According to Gvaramia, he is in favor of the grand union and is ready to sacrifice anything for victory.

“We are not encouraging you to join us. We propose to unite. We have to defeat, first of all, our ambitions, our ego in this whole process, and only after that, after reunification, will we be able to defeat Bidzina Ivanishvili's regime and take Georgia, as Nika [Melia] says, to the future. No past. We only talk about the future and our successes,” Gvaramia said.

The election number of the new party, with which they will participate in the 2024 parliamentary elections, will be 4. According to Nika Melia, “Number Four and the party Ahali will definitely remove the political magic from Georgian political life.”

“We do not dwell on the past. We are focused on future accomplishments, and if this team is to be distinguished by anything, it must be distinguished by its future achievements. I believe that hundreds of thousands of voters will recognize our hard work, sincere, new approach, and hundreds of thousands will vote for number four on October 26.”

Maia Kopaleishvili, the former chairman of the Constitutional Court of Georgia, has joined the new party. As he stated today, the fight for justice will be one of the main priorities for Ahali.

“It is very important for the court to be fair, to end political justice in this country, and not to use the court as a tool of political struggle,” said Kopaleishvili.

Former parliamentarian and member of the ruling Georgian Dream Gedevan Popkhadze has also joined the party.

The party congress, where the new chairman will be elected and its structure will be determined, will be held shortly.
