On May 24, the President presented Ekaterine Ghazadze's candidacy to Parliament. Prior to this, a specially convened commission recommended five candidates, whom Salome Zurabishvili met with individually.
"The President of Georgia, within his authority, conducted the selection process for the SEB board members smoothly and transparently. On May 24, 2024, he presented to the Georgian Parliament a highly qualified candidate chosen by an independent commission. However, the Parliament has not yet begun consideration of the submitted candidacy at any level," announced the President's administration today.
Currently, four positions on the National Bank of Georgia's Council remain vacant. According to Parliament Chairman Shalva Papuashvili, the issue will be discussed upon the President's presentation of all candidates.
"Present all candidates, and we will consider them. It is somewhat surprising that despite there being four vacancies and five potential candidates selected, only one has been presented," Papuashvili remarked.

The plenary session on the same day will vote on Giorgi Gabitashvili's candidacy, followed by the first reading of the "Amnesty" draft law on Friday, July 19.
