The Georgian Prosecutor's Office has charged one person with committing physical violence against teacher Lado Abkhazava and his son.

"The investigation has determined that on May 5, 2024, in the city of Lanchkhuti, under the influence of alcohol, K.P. physically assaulted two individuals residing in the neighborhood, specifically by slapping them both in the face," stated the prosecutor's office.
K.P. has been charged under the first part of Article 126 of the Criminal Code, subsection C, which pertains to violence committed against two persons and carries a penalty of up to two years' imprisonment.
As per the prosecutor's office, they will apply to the court within the time limit set by the law for the application of a restraining measure. Whether the prosecution will request a prison sentence remains unknown.
Lado Abkhazava, a recipient of the National Teacher's Prize, stated that he was attacked by two individuals wielding wooden sticks. He and his 20-year-old son were subjected to verbal and physical abuse. As the teacher says, the attack occurred because she participates in rallies against the Russian Law and expresses his opinions openly on social media.
Approximately 600 teachers have declared their solidarity with Lado Abkhazava. They have called on law enforcement agencies to investigate the act of violence promptly and effectively.
