Red Wings will begin flights from Sochi International Airport to Batumi on June 22. Flights will operate twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, using Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft.
"After the restoration of air traffic between Russia and Georgia, it became evident that Georgian resorts remain popular among Russian tourists.
According to statistics from TAV Georgia, passenger traffic at Batumi Airport increased by 34% in January-April 2024 compared to the same period last year. 'We are confident that there will be strong seasonal demand for our new flights to Batumi,' said Alexander Krutov, Deputy General Director of Red Wings."
Direct flights from the capital of Bashkiria, Ufa, will commence on July 4. According to Ufa International Airport, these flights will operate on Thursdays at 10:20, with a travel time to Batumi of approximately three and a half hours. Additionally, Azimut Airlines operates flights to Tbilisi from the same airport every Friday.
Regarding Kazan, Red Wings aircraft will fly between the capital of Tatarstan and Batumi from July 7 to October 13, once a week on Sundays. The estimated travel time for these flights will be approximately 3 hours and 20 minutes.
Direct flights between Russia and Georgia were reinstated on May 19, 2023, by the decision of the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin. Over the course of a year, flights are operated by three airlines: Georgian Airways representing Georgia, and Red Wings and Azimuth representing Russia. According to the Ministry of Economy of Georgia, a total of 13 600 flights are planned from Georgia during the current year's summer navigation season. Of these, 2 480 flights (18%) will be directed to Europe, and 1 761 flights (13%) will be directed to Russia.
