"The depth of penetration into the Kursk region is 12 kilometers, and the width is 40 kilometers. There are 28 settlements within this zone, which is home to about 2,000 people, whose fate is currently unknown," said Smirnov.
According to Alexei Smirnov, 12 people have been killed and 121 injured, including 10 children, as a result of the Ukrainian attack in the Kursk region. Approximately 121,000 residents have already left the border areas of the district. The Acting Governor noted that 180,000 people are subject to evacuation.
Smirnov also mentioned that the lack of a clear front line in the Kursk region complicates the task of determining the location of the Ukrainian military.
"The problem for us is that there is no clear front line; it is not known where the combat units are deployed. It is crucial to know the enemy's position at any given moment," the Acting Governor told Putin.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine began their attack in the direction of Kursk on August 6 at dawn. According to Vladimir Putin, the primary task of the Russian Ministry of Defense now is to expel the enemy from Russian territory.
