Citizen Ketevan Gabiani was found guilty of a criminal offense and fined 2 thousand GEL by Tbilisi City Court due to the post published on Facebook regarding the Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth Thea Tsulukiani.

Tsulukiani herself spread the information about the court's verdict which, according to her, is an important precedent.

Citizen Ketevan Gabiani cursed Tsulukiani in her post and she wrote that she would “bury her”.

“I should bury Thea Tsulukiani. She is Svani (Ethnographic group of Georgians), hence I won’t pee on her grave... Nobody will be able to find your grave, I swear”, - was written in the post, which is no longer found on the internet.

“This is a death threat received last year, in February, which the author later deleted. This person, named Ketevan Gabiani (now Khabiani), whom I saw in the courtroom for the first time today, according to the verdict of the court of first instance: was found guilty under the first part of Article 151 of the Criminal Code and fined with 2000 GEL. From now on, she is a criminal and not an NGO fighter for the establishment of national nobility on earth,” Minister Tsulukiani wrote.

According to the Criminal Code of Georgia, Article 151, the threat of killing, damaging health, or destroying property, when a person threatened has started to have a reasonable sensation of fear that the threat will be carried out, is punished by a fine or community service for a term of 120 to 180 hours, or by corrective labor for a term of up to one year or house arrest for a term of six months to two years, or by imprisonment for a term of up to one year, with or without the restriction of the rights regarding weapons.
