The government plans to spend 100 million GEL on rehabilitating the Tusheti road

The Russian law of the Georgian Dream party threatens independent media and civil society organizations and hinders Georgia from joining the European Union.

Russian law establishes Putin's rules in Georgia, which has eliminated free speech in Russia.

When you are oppressed, there will be no one to cover your problem and stand by you.

Georgian News will resist the Russian intention of the Georgian Dream to the end!

The Department of Roads has announced a tender for rehabilitating the 13-kilometre section of the Pshaveli-Abano-Omalo road. The estimated cost of the project is 28 million GEL. According to the Ministry of Infrastructure, the Tusheti road rehabilitation project is divided into eight sections. By the end of the year, the tender will be announced for the works of all areas of the Tusheti road. The project will be completed gradually in 2025, and its total cost will be 100 million GEL.

The part of the road, for the rehabilitation of which a tender has already been announced, starts from the 7th kilometre of the Pshaveli-Abano-Omalo road. The 6-km section is a damaged asphalt-concrete pavement, and the rest is a dirt road. The rehabilitation section consists of several serpentines and three bridges.

The width of the project road varies from 4.5 to 6 meters. Where the width of the road is 4.5 meters, widening the road is planned.

On the first 10 kilometres of the rehabilitation section, it is planned to arrange an asphalt-concrete pavement with a width of 6 meters and extensions in the curves; on the remaining three kilometres, the project envisages the arrangement of a concrete road.

Acceptance of bids will begin on August 10 and end on August 15. The rehabilitation works are scheduled for 14 months.

The contractor must eliminate the defects at their own expense within two years after completion.

Full rehabilitation, with the arrangement of asphalt and concrete surface, is planned only for the first section of the road. After that, the surface of the remaining sections will remain unpaved, the damaged areas of the road will be restored, and the existing parameters will be improved.

The Pshaveli-Omalo road is the only road to Tusheti, which starts from the Telavi village Pshaveli and connects to Omalo through the Abano pass. The road was built in the 1960-70s. Traffic on the Tusheti road is possible for about 4-5 months of the year.
