"For me, of course, it's difficult, but due to strict medical advice, I am actually forbidden to work for 2-3 months.
I cannot allow the chairman of the party to be non-functional, uninvolved in daily operations, and not working around the clock during these crucial 2-3 months when there are only 4 months left before the elections.
Therefore, in consultation with Tina and our team, we have made a concrete decision," Khabeishvili stated that he will convene the party congress in a few days and propose two changes to the members. "The first concerns the chairman of the party, and I propose to the congress the candidacy of Tina Bokuchava as the chairman. Additionally, I would like to propose myself as a candidate for the chairman of the political council because the political council's role does not involve daily operational work. I will, of course, participate in all political decisions alongside the team."
"In the face of Russian Ivanishvili's henchmen, after your attempt to rescue a young man from special forces turned bandits, you demonstrated incredible calmness, strength, and courage, qualities truly exhibited only by those who believe in victory. Thank you for your fight and thank you for your trust.
Today, I will not delve into my views on our election strategy and winning these crucial elections for our country. As Levan explained, we will have the opportunity to discuss this in the near future. However, I will say one thing without exaggeration.
Today, the fate of our country is being decided. It is being decided where our children will live, whether they will reside in Russia's shadow or in European Georgia. In this election, I firmly believe that we must set aside differences with Ivanishvili and all other political forces. Every politician who does not bend to Georgia's Russianness should unite for victory, for Georgia, for our country, and for our European future," Tina Bokuchava emphasized.
Levan Khabeishvili was severely beaten by special forces on May 1, sustaining injuries to his head and face. No one has been held accountable for this incident.
Mikheil Saakashvili, the third president of Georgia, commented on the change of party chairman on social media.
"I support the election of Tina Bokuchava as the new chairperson and the steps taken to rejuvenate the party. I commend Levan's decision to prioritize his health, which was compromised by a politically motivated physical assault, and to transition from the role of chairman to that of chairman of the political council of the party. We must strive to unite all political forces. It is imperative to understand that this is the demand of the people, especially the youth, today. 'ENM' will undergo a complete reorganization in this direction, with new faces and new ideas, rooted in the tradition of building a successful state and the ongoing process of renewal," Saakashvili writes
