According to the agency, the epidemiological research determined that the patients consumed ‘’Chicken Kyiv’’ bought in the Nikora Trade grocery shops.
Specialists checked Nikora Trade stores, which are located in Aghmashenebeli Alley and Khomleli Street in Tbilisi.
‘’Inspectors of the agency took food samples for laboratory research, in which the pathogenic microorganism salmonella was found. As a result, JSC Nikora Trade's production of ready-made meals was fined and the production process was stopped until critical inconsistencies were eliminated. 20 kg of chicken fillet contaminated with the pathogen, 100 kg of various types of food, and 22 kg of ''Chicken Kyiv’’ Chicken meat, where the said chicken fillet was used, were removed and will be destroyed using appropriate methods. For the purpose of traceability, the National Food Agency will also carry out state control in the raw material importing company,’’ said the agency.
Nikora Trade confirmed that 8 people were poisoned by their food.
‘’The National Food Agency contacted us regarding the facts of food poisoning of several people. As it turned out, all of them had consumed Chicken Kyiv. Upon receiving the information, we immediately followed all the instructions of the agency, actively cooperating with them, we tracked down the source and identified the Graco chicken fillet, which was used in the production of cutlets. It was supplied to us by the company Geo Distribution. Of course, we informed the said company about the incident and immediately removed that particular batch from production. Due to the small size of the ready-made food enterprise, this product was supplied to only a few branches, and the extent of the problem is very small,’’ said the statement issued by Nikora.
