In the occupied Tskhinvali region, the Java district court sentenced 35-year-old Giorgi Mosiashvili to two years in prison for illegally crossing the border of South Ossetia de facto Republic. Russian media spread this information today.

Giorgi Mosiashvili, Perevi village resident in Sachkhere municipality, was kidnapped on October 31, 2023, from the area surrounding the occupied Sinaguri village. As his fellow villagers said, he had gone fishing with his friends on the river, which is now occupied by the Russians.

The occupation regime reports that Giorgi Mosiashvili illegally crossed the border of "South Ossetia" and managed to catch 25 kg of trout before his arrest. The so-called court also satisfied the claim of the "Environmental Protection Committee" and ordered compensation for material damages to the Georgian citizens.

Today, seven citizens of Georgia remain in the illegal custody of the Tskhinvali regime.

The annual report of the State Security Service of Georgia indicates that in 2023, 37 cases of illegal detention were recorded in the direction of the occupied Tskhinvali region.
