Kobakhidze: I Call on the Opposition to Accept 60% Result When Announced

The Russian law of the Georgian Dream party threatens independent media and civil society organizations and hinders Georgia from joining the European Union.

Russian law establishes Putin's rules in Georgia, which has eliminated free speech in Russia.

When you are oppressed, there will be no one to cover your problem and stand by you.

Georgian News will resist the Russian intention of the Georgian Dream to the end!

Following the parliamentary elections, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze urged the opposition to accept the results published by the Central Election Commission.

"Today, we must remind ourselves once again that this is a highly principled, decisive election - one equivalent to a referendum, akin to the 2012 election - where the country’s developmental path will be ultimately decided. This is a referendum between war and peace, between immoral propaganda and traditional values, between the country's dark past and its bright future,” Kobakhidze told journalists.

He added that the ruling party has a "very optimistic forecast" and expects "60% of the votes."

"This is supported by social surveys and door-to-door data. I call on all political parties to recognize the election results presented by the CEC. One of the fundamental differences between us and the radical opposition is that we always respect the results published by the CEC. When the 60% result is announced, I urge the opposition to accept that the Georgian people have definitively rejected them.

We anticipate over a million votes in this election, which would set a record. Our mobilization is at its peak; we are fully mobilized.

… Once again, I call on the opposition to accept and recognize the election results published by the CEC, and not to repeat their actions from 2021, 2022, 2018, and so forth. I urge all parties to recognize the results that will be published by the CEC.

We call on everyone to respect the CEC results; therefore, we will be the first to do so. We recognize the people’s will, which is expected to show the Georgian Dream at 60%. We will acknowledge any result, but we expect that the CEC’s decision will reflect approximately 60% support for Georgian Dream, marking the opposition’s worst defeat," said Kobakhidze.

Today, on October 26, parliamentary elections are underway in Georgia, with voters selecting 150 members of Parliament under a proportional electoral system. Eighteen political parties are participating, with mandates to be allocated to those parties receiving at least 5% of the valid votes cast by participating voters.
