“Georgian Dream will have its own modern office 12 years after the founding of the party, which is a clear sign that we will not lose any elections for at least another 12 years," said Kobakhidze.
According to his statement, the parliamentary elections of 2012 brought Georgia a democratic transition and freed the country from the rule of Foreign Agents.
"The removal of these agents and their authoritarian rule was a turning point, for which I would like to thank Mr. Bidzina Ivanishvili, as an ordinary citizen of this country, once again," said Kobakhidze.
The Prime Minister noted that the past four years were full of significant difficulties. He mentioned "two attempts at revolution" during this period as well.
"In 2021, the country experienced the first attempt at revolution. With the outbreak of war in Ukraine, unprecedented pressure on the country began, leading to a second attempt at revolution in June 2022. Due to the efforts of the Global War Party, Georgia was unfairly denied the status of a candidate for EU membership, and the country lived in an artificially created polarization regime for a year and a half. Last year and this year, the transparency law was twice targeted by 'the fraud of the century,' when one of the most important European principles – accountability to the public – was declared an anti-European event. Despite this unprecedented pressure, two attempts at revolution, and artificially created upheavals, the Georgian Dream government maintained peace, ensured unprecedented rapid economic growth, and received the status of a candidate for EU membership.
At the same time, the Georgian Dream government successfully opposed pseudo-liberal propaganda and defended traditional values, the three pillars of our national identity: land, language, and faith.
Importantly, Georgia strengthened its state independence. Georgia has never been as sovereign as it is today," said Irakli Kobakhidze.
Bidzina Ivanishvili, the founder and honorary chairman of Georgian Dream, also spoke at the opening of the election campaign. He said that in the parliamentary elections, the ruling party needs "a particularly solid victory equal to a constitutional majority" to "finally put an end to the war party, agents, radicalism, polarization, and liberal fascism in Georgia."
