"We are establishing a new movement, Freedom Square, and starting political activities. We do this because we believe that Georgian citizenship is a struggle for victory, not a struggle for survival. We are here because we believe that our unity can contribute to the survival of democracy, the European future, and the development of this country. Therefore, each of us feels obliged to do our duty. We see the necessity of introducing new ideas and new energy into Georgian politics. This can be achieved only by involving honest, knowledgeable, and patriotic people," said Levan Tsutskiridze at the presentation of Freedom Square.
According to him, the policy of the ruling Georgian Dream is aimed at destroying freedom and the European future. The ruling party has failed to fulfill any of its promises to the people, and "that is why it is trying to destroy democracy, because apart from usurping power, it simply has no chance to stay in power."
"They want to return Georgia to Russia's obedience because they see Russia as their only ally in the usurpation of the government. That is why they are trying to destroy democracy with Russian laws. If they manage to destroy democracy, they will easily destroy everything else," Tsutskiridze said.
The founders of the new political movement believe that as a result of the October 26 parliamentary elections, the government must be changed. They support the Georgian Charter offered to parties by President Salome Zourabichvili.
"The change of government must happen on October 26, 2024 - the date of our victories. This change should ensure that no government will dare to break the promises given to the people, as the Georgian Dream has done many times.
We believe that in this case, everyone who is not against us is with us. Therefore, we are ready to cooperate with all civil and political groups that share our vision, our manifesto, and our spirit.
We enter politics not to divide the political space, but to unite it," said Levan Tsutskiridze.
The founders emphasize that Freedom Square is a political movement, not a party.
