According to the information of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the investigation determined that the suspect fatally wounded Aitaj Sh., born in 2009 in Lambalo village of Sagarejo municipality, with a firearm. The police extracted the murder weapon as evidence.

On October 6, a 14-year-old girl was killed in the village of Lambalo by her unregistered husband. Aitaj Sh. Was from one of the villages of Dmanisi district. A man living in Lambalo village of Sagarejo married her about two months ago and they had been living together since. A number of villagers confirmed to Georgian News that the girl was kidnapped, but the girl’s family and relatives did not notify the police. [Georgia had this vile tradition where men would kidnap a girl of their liking to marry her. Once kidnapped and brought home, the girl was accepted to be the man's rightful wife, including, and especially, by her own family, as a once-kidnapped girl was considered unmarriageable and undesirable for future marriage. The practice is still alive in the most rural parts of Georgia]. The girl was an 8th-grade student in the Dmanisi village public school. The school authorities also did not notify the relevant services that the girl has not been attending school since studies resumed in September.
‘’My daughter was kidnapped; it did not happen with the family’s consent. I wanted to visit them, but the boy told me if I came, he would kill me. Now we see what happened. He killed my daughter because she wanted to leave. My girl went to the field to fetch the calf, and he was hiding there. She tried to run away, but he caught her and started kicking her. Then he tied to the tree and beat her. He then took the beaten girl to the house. She told him, I’m 14, I don’t love you, leave me alone or I will call 112. He took out a gun and killed her. I demand the murderer be sentenced to life in prison,’’ the murdered girl’s mother told journalists.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Kvemo Kartli Police Department is investigating the possible forced marriage of Aitaj Sh.
