The State Security Committee of the de facto Republic of South Ossetia announced that 59-year-old Teimuraz Khomasuridze, a resident of Adzvi village, was arrested on July 13 for illegally crossing the so-called border.
"It was established that Khomasuridze deliberately crossed the state border of the Republic of Georgia near the settlement of Adzari (Adzvistavi) in the Tskhinvali region. On July 15, the Tskhinvali City Court recognized him as an administrative offender and fined him with administrative expulsion. On Tuesday, the offender was handed over to the Georgian authorities in accordance with the established procedure."
The State Security Service of Georgia claims that both the hotline mechanism of the European Union Monitoring Mission (EUMM) in Georgia and other tools were actively used in the process of releasing Teimuraz Khomasuridze.
