The Russian government delegation visited the area in Bichvinta, where an opening of a hotel complex ‘’Moskva Resort’’, covering over 46.5 hectares of land, is planned for 2026. The cost of the project is 31 billion rubles. According to local media, 450 rooms and 2334 long-term rental apartments will be built within the hotel part of the ‘’Moskva Resort.’’ The territory of the hotel complex will have a two-kilometer beach. According to Russian investors, it will accommodate more than 200,000 tourists annually.
Alexander Novak thanked Aslan Bzhania for inviting him to Abkhazia, and Bzhania remarked that the leadership and citizens of Abkhazia have high hopes for his visit.
“Abkhazia and Sukhumi are our strategic partners both in foreign political activities and in terms of development of trade and economic cooperation. Russia supports the implementation of infrastructure projects and financial stability in Abkhazia. Our trade and economic turnover is increasing - it increased by 73% last year. I believe that this is not the limit, because there is great potential in different directions: first of all, it is tourism, new projects that may be implemented to attract tourists, and restoration of the airport to accommodate the tourist flow,” said Novak during his meeting with the so-called President Aslan Bzhania.
According to the Vice Prime Minister of Russia, the signing of the “intergovernmental agreement” is planned for the restoration of the Sukhumi International Airport in the near future.
The Russian delegation was comprised of: Igor Maslov - Head of the Office of the President of Russia in matters of interregional and cultural relations with foreign countries; Dimitri Volvach - Deputy Minister of Economic Development; Evgeny Grabchak - Deputy Minister of Energy; and Mikhail Babich - Director of the Federal Service of Military-Technical Cooperation.
