The anti-corruption agency of the State Security Service arrested Temur Mebonia, the head of the property management department, and B. Dz., a specialist in the same department, on charges of accepting a large amount of bribe by a group with a prior agreement at the Tsalenjikha municipality town hall.

According to information from the security service, the investigation established that the defendants demanded and accepted 20,000 GEL from a citizen in exchange for auctioning a 1,550 sq/m plot of land located in Daba Jvari, Tsalenjikha municipality.
The anti-corruption agency is investigating the case under subsections "b" and "c" of the second part of Article 338 of the Criminal Code. The crime is punishable by 7 to 11 years of imprisonment.
Tsalenjikha is the only one among the 64 municipalities in Georgia that has an opposition mayor. The Mayor of Tsalenjikha, Giorgi Kharchilava, did not comment on the arrest of the employees. The first deputy mayor, Ivane Burduli, told "Georgian News" that he does not know the details of the case. Temur Mebonia has been working in the City Hall for about 40 years, he said.
