“Now it is important for Georgia to continue and step-up domestic reforms and uphold democratic values. We want to see Georgia move in the right direction. Toward more democracy and prosperity. Toward full membership in the Euro-Atlantic family,” NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said, noting that the North Atlantic Alliance will continue to support Georgia in the process of fulfilling these aspirations.

According to Stoltenberg, during the meeting with the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze in Brussels, the further strengthening of partnership was discussed.
"Georgia is a close NATO partner, and we fully support Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. NATO continues to call on Russia to reverse the recognition of Georgian territories as independent states. Any threats by Russia to annex Georgia’s occupied regions are unacceptable,” Stoltenberg said.
The security issue of the Black Sea region was also discussed at the meeting: "We know this is of great importance for Georgia. Russia’s war against Ukraine poses substantial risks to the freedom of navigation. This also impacts food security around the world. So I welcome the efforts of Allies working to demine the Black Sea, making it safer for navigation and commerce”, continued the NATO Secretary-General.
According to Irakli Kobakhidze, his first foreign visit to Brussels as Prime Minister is another clear demonstration that Georgia attaches special importance to NATO partnership.
After the meeting with Stoltenberg, the Prime Minister of Georgia said that it is fundamentally important for the government to deepen the partnership with NATO, and they will do everything for maximum progress.
“It is a difficult situation at this stage. While the war in Ukraine continues, the situation in terms of integration is challenging. The situation is not ripe today for such decisions to be made; however, of course, we must look ahead and prepare everything so that ultimately, when the appropriate conditions are prepared for it, we can make such a decision - a principled decision regarding full integration.
Currently, there is a difficult situation in this regard; however, I will repeat once again that we will work as actively as possible to get closer to the alliance and deepen the partnership between us,” said Irakli Kobakhidze.
According to Kobakhidze, there is a very friendly mood towards Georgia, which gives grounds for optimism that the NATO-Georgia partnership will deepen.
