“The People's Republic of China has decided to adopt a visa-free travel arrangement for Georgian citizens. Georgian nationals will now have the opportunity to stay in China for up to 30 consecutive days without the need for a visa. This significant decision will facilitate travel to China for our citizens and will foster new avenues for the advancement of political, economic, and cultural relations between Georgia and China,” stated Irakli Kobakhidze.
The Prime Minister emphasized that this decision represents another consequential outcome of the strategic partnership agreement forged between Georgia and China last year.
“I extend my congratulations to our citizens and express gratitude to our Chinese friends and the Chinese government for this momentous decision,” Kobakhidze remarked.
Following the signing of the strategic partnership agreement, Georgia reciprocated in September 2023 by implementing a visa-free regime for citizens of the People's Republic of China. Consequently, Chinese nationals are entitled to enter Georgia without a visa for a maximum period of 30 days solely for tourism purposes.
Additionally, there exists a direct air route between Georgia and China. According to data from the National Tourism Agency, 48,304 visitors from China traveled to Georgia in 2023, marking a 554.5% increase compared to 2022 and a 0.5% rise compared to 2019, the period preceding the pandemic.
