"It's been two months since I, as a Member of Parliament, who is usually protected by immunity, was violently attacked by policemen in broad daylight at the State Chancellery building. All this violence, where they hit me with madness, was captured on footage. Because of this evidence, the Special Investigation Service was forced to join the case. Their name is honorable, but in reality, they are a shameful organization. They have been conducting an investigation for two months, yet the essence and result of the investigation are that no one has been charged, not even a single police officer. The policemen who beat me can be seen in the footage. They have not even been interrogated; it is a fact that no one has been arrested.
Moreover, the Special Investigation Service has not recognized me as a victim for two months. What more should I suffer? They broke my rib; it was evident on my face that I was beaten, and it was visible in the footage that they were beating me with determination. We live in such a shameful country with such a shameful government and investigative structures.
They are deliberately not conducting the investigation. I am not recognized as a victim because if I were, I would have access to all materials, as would my lawyer. They do not want to reveal the identity of those policemen.
Why do they do this? Because today's Georgian Dream, which has turned into a criminal gang, relies on two resources. These are the hooded policemen who meet people on the street, attack them, and make them bleed - they don't even wear masks anymore - and the violent policemen who, if they are helped, will bring down the entire violent-bandit government structure. That is why they are not investigating," said Aleko Elisashvili.
As the MP noted, after the change of government, violent police officers "will be punished very severely."
The special forces and police repeatedly assaulted participants of peaceful protests against the Russian Law. The Internal Affairs Ministry Special Tasks Department Director, Zviad Kharazishvili, also known as Khareba, told journalists that he beats up "scoundrels," whose names he has on a list, at rallies. Physical violence was committed against Aleko Elisashvili on April 17 and against another Member of Parliament, former chairman of the United National Movement, Levan Khabeishvili, on April 30. On May 14, employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs seriously injured civil activist Davit Katsarava. Elisashvili said that several policemen dragged him on the instructions of the director of the patrol police department, Vazha Siradze. At this point, he fell down and they hit him with batons. According to Khabeishvili, Zviad Kharazishvili carried out a deliberate punitive measure against him.
