Levan Kharabadze, the Guria Police Department director, has been appointed as the state representative of Shida Kartli. According to the government administration, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze met with the new governor today to discuss current and planned projects in the region.

Levan Kharabadze replaced Mikheil Shakulashvili as State Commissioner. Shakulashvili, appointed as governor in August 2022 by then Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili, left the position shortly after Gharibashvili's resignation at the beginning of March. He denied that his resignation was due to the change in Prime Minister. According to him, after 26 years of public service, he was tired and wanted to move to the private sector.
The new governor is a lawyer by profession. From 2021 until now, he was the director of the Guria Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and from 2019 to 2021, he headed the Samtskhe-Javakheti Police Department. According to the government administration, Levan Kharabadze has many years of experience working in managerial positions.
