From April 11 to April 25, all types of vehicle traffic will be prohibited on the Vaziani-Gombori-Telavi highway of domestic importance due to ongoing rehabilitation works.

The Department of Highways announced that during this period, on the pass section, the drainage system will be arranged, and weak soils will be replaced in the landslide areas.
"Depending on the specifics of the works, it is necessary to cut the highway up to 3-4 meters, which cannot ensure the passage of motor vehicles. We apologize for the inconvenience caused to the population," said Pavle Gamkrelidze, the Highways Department Deputy Chairman.
Before the opening of the Gombori road, road transport will drive through the Tbilisi-Bakurtsikhe-Lagodekhi highway of international importance.
On the Vaziani-Gombori-Telavi highway, a 33.6-kilometer section is being rehabilitated. The project envisages complete rehabilitation of the carriageway, laying of asphalt-concrete pavement, rehabilitation of 6 bridges, arrangement of new water pipes, and reinforced concrete lower and upper supporting walls. The rehabilitation has been ongoing for a year and should be completed in the fall. 66 700 000 GEL was allocated from the state budget for the project.
