Judge Nana Shamatava announced the decision on Temur Sharikadze's lawsuit on March 5, and Judge Soso Ghurtskaia's decision on Maia Pataridze's lawsuit was announced on February 28.
In both cases, the lawsuits were largely upheld. In particular, the order of the deputy director of the National Museum, Nika Akhalbedashvili, regarding the dismissal of Temur Sharikadze and Maia Pataridze, was declared invalid. The National Museum was ordered to compensate the victims from the date of their dismissal until the execution of the court decision. Additionally, the National Museum will have to pay 3000 GEL as compensation to Temur Sharikadze and 2000 GEL to Maya Pataridze.
The Science, Education, and Culture Workers’ Union of Georgia is protecting the interests of employees who were illegally dismissed from the National Museum. According to lawyer Davit Omsarashvili, due to the reorganization carried out in the museum, the positions held by Temur Sharikadze and Maia Pataridze were canceled, and the court cannot oblige the museum to reinstate them to their workplace.
Temur Sharikadze, the head of the regional museum collections registration-protection and management sector, and Maia Pataridze, a numismatist and doctor of historical sciences, were dismissed from the National Museum of Georgia in 2022. The reorganization was cited as the reason for their dismissal, along with 19 other employees.
In March 2021, after the separation of the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth and the appointment of Tea Tsulukiani as minister, reorganization and large-scale personnel changes began in various institutions under the ministry. More than 10 people who were illegally dismissed from the Ministry's system have won labor disputes in court. Among them are Eka Kiknadze, Lika Mamatsashvili, Irma Managadze, Dinara Vachnadze, Nana Gabrichidze-Buadze, Guga Gogadze, Giorgi Jamburia, Tina Vashakmadze, and Nino Macharashvili.
